1) New
The options Confidentiality, Restrictions, Sound effects, Cards sound are explained with the Options menu.
The number of deals of a tournament can be up to 99.
The launch can be made through three choices:
a new simple game.
The score is not updated at the end of such a game.
a new free deals tournament.
At the end of each game, the score is modified according to the FFT rules.
The dialog on the right makes it possible to choose, for each of the 4 players, between the computer or the user who will control each position. Moreover the human players have the possibility to type their name.
a new duplicate tournament.
Each human player plays the same deal in the position of the Taker (while the computer plays the 3 defenders), the winner is the one who will have the best score after several games.
The dialog on the left allows to choose the number of participants in a duplicate tournament. The computer can also participate (it controls all the 4 players when its turn comes), which makes it possible to play alone in duplicate against the computer. The human players have the possibility of typing their name.
The order into which each participant will play the same deal one after the other will change by rotation with each new deal. In this way, it is not always the same player who begins one deal. If the computer takes part in the tournament, it will always play the last one.
In the three modes (Simple, Free, Duplicate), it is possible to specify the option for the first deal: either random or created using the Editor, or to load a deal saved on a disk. It is the same choice which is proposed to you before each new deal in the DEAL menu.
The random deal is selected by default.
As for the option "Play editor deal" of the DEAL menu, the choice "Editor" is active only if a deal was actually prepared in the Editor before.
2) Open
Allows to continue a saved tournament.
Important Note:
There is only one type of document LeTarot. Those documents can contain either a single deal (created using the editor), or all the data related to a tournament: all the deals, all the played games, and the score.
What will be loaded depends on which OPEN is used:
OPEN item of the FILE menu will try to open a tournament. If only one deal is found (saved with the editor), it will begin a Simple game and asks who plays (Human, Computer, North, South etc... ).
OPEN item of the DEAL menu or in the deals editor will try to open one deal. If the selected file contains a tournament, IN THE CURRENT VERSION it will open the deal in progress or the one which has just been played. It should be possible in a future version to have a dialog allowing to select any deals of the tournament. Currently, it is only possible by Copy&Paste towards the editor (see "Copy current deal to editor" in the DEAL menu or the SCORE window).
3) Save / Save as
Allows to save the tournament in progress. The exact state of the current game is also saved. It should be noted that all the deals and the course of all the games of a tournament are recorded.
4) Abort
After confirmation, the tournament is aborted.
5) Quit
